Question by janice: I need to make an appetizer for a 4th of July cookout. Does anyone have a recipe for refried bean pinwheels?
I want to make them WITHOUT cream cheese and/or sour cream. I feel they will last longer in the heat. I can’t find a recipe that omits those two items. Has anyone ever made them with just the refried beans(green chilies, salsa, green onions and Monterey Jack cheese)and had them come out OK?

I have made very similar appetizers. I use canned bean dip (the spicier the better), Top with green onions, chiles, tomatos and lettuce (ok so maybe no lettuce if you’re worried about the heat), jack cheese, roll up, cut and yum!

Because I was supposed to grill some ribs, but, we don’t have a grill. So, how long should I grill my ribs for and how high should the temperature be?

I do not have a grill and roast my pork spare ribs in a preheated 300 degree F oven for 3 hours. I also wrap them in two layers of heavy duty foil. Before sealing the foil, I slather on BBQ sauce and pour some bourbon or rum over them. Place the sealed package of ribs on a cookie or baking sheet before placing in the oven. Raise the oven Temperature to 375 degrees after the ribs have been in the oven for 2 hours 15 minutes, open the foil and allow them to brown. If you don’t have 3 hours, just bake/roast them in a 350 degree oven for about an 1 1/1 hours.
